part 1
How to Evaluate Testing Tools [WLOs: 1, 2, 3] [CLOs: 1, 3] |
Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 7 from the course text, Software Testing Foundations.
As we discussed throughout this course, software testing is not an easy task. Therefore, it is very common to use CAST tools (computer aided software testing) to help. The good news is that there are different CAST tools that will help you through the different aspects of the software testing. The bad news is that you have many of these tools to pick from, and some of these tools are actually very expensive.
In this discussion, explain the best way to evaluate these different CAST tools and how to objectively pick the right tools for the right tasks. If the tools are expensive, explain how you would justify the cost of these tools to your leaders in the organization.
Part 2
Test Tools [WLOs: 1, 2, 3] [CLOs: 1, 3] |
Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 7 from the course text, Software Testing Foundations.
This week, you will build another concept map using a software such as PowerPoint or Draw.io.
Instructions
You will agree by now that testing is very complex and involves so many activities that it will not feasible to do it manually.
For this week’s learning activity, you are going to build a concept map related to the different testing tools used in different phases of testing. You will include some research of some of the actual leading tools for each testing activity along with some information and selection criteria for each testing tool category.
In addition to your concept map, write a paper that addresses the following:
- List the key tools that are critical to the different phases of testing.
- Identify the key characteristics for each one of these tools to allow for objective evaluation.
- Identify some of the leading tools for each area and provide simple evaluation for each based on the criteria you identified before.
Post a link to your concept map in this discussion form and attach your paper. Your paper should be 600 words. Support your content with two to three scholarly and/or credible sources in addition to the course text with in-text citations using the Writing Center’s APA: Citing Within Your Paper resource. The Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources table offers additional guidance on appropriate source types. Lastly, include title and references pages. For information on how to properly format title and references pages, review the Writing Center’s resources APA Formatting for Word 2013 and APA: Formatting Your References List.
